With a 3-1 victory against 10-man Tottenham in a thrilling North London derby, Arsenal jumped out to a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League and handed the Spurs their first loss of the year.
Harry Kane's (31) penalty, awarded after Richarlison was fouled by Gabriel Magalhaes, cancelled out Thomas Partey's (20) spectacular long-range goal, but the hosts, who had been in charge for the majority of the first half, really took over after the interval.
Hugo Lloris and Cristian Romero's misunderstanding allowed Gabriel Jesus to score from close range to give Arsenal the lead (49) and Granit Xhaka added a decisive third goal (67) after Emerson Royal was dismissed for a reckless tackle on Gabriel Martinelli.
This season, Mikel Arteta's team has won seven out of eight games, highlighting their improvement in previous weeks. With Sunday's match against Manchester United, they have a comfortable four-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.
